Nyack Community Ambulance Administration & Board

The Administrative Officers and Board of Directors are elected from the general body of the membership. There are specific by-laws which identify the duties and terms of members that serve on the Board.

Administrative Officers, 2016

President: William McDowell

Administrative Vice President: Steve Borton

Steve has been an active member of the Corps for 7 years. Living in the Nyack area for over 25 years, Steve Steve Bortonwas first introduced to the Corps by his daughter Carissa Borton, who has been a member for a number of years - first as a youth member and then as a full member. Carissa is now attending Columbia and working on her Nurse Practitioner degree. Steve also volunteers his time for the Rockland Road Runners and United Hospice of Rockland. Steve was born in Wisconsin, grew up in Southern California and has lived on the East Coast for 35 years. The satisfaction of being an active member of the community and the camaraderie of the Nyack Community Ambulance Corps are two reasons Steve enjoys his days at the Corps.

Operational Vice President: Paul Morer

Paul MorerPaul has been an active member of the corps since 2004.  He is a certified as an EMT in both New York and Connecticut.  A former recipient of the Rockland County EMS Leadership Award, Paul represents the Corps on the Clarkstown ALS Committee, the County EMS Operations Committee, and is a member of the Orangetown Health Service Advisory Committee.  Paul is a member of DMAT-NY-4, based in Rockland County. 

Secretary: Susan Hellauer

sueSue Hellauer has been a member of Nyack Ambulance since 2001, and is a volunteer EMT and driver. She is also the NCAC webmaster, and edits our in-house newsletter, The Siren. In her work life, Sue is a freelance writer, and is a professor of music at Queens College CUNY. She is also a mom and grandmother and has lived in Nyack since 1997.

Training/Privacy Officer: Willie White
Willie White
Willie joined Nyack Community Ambulance Corps during his junior year of high school.  During his time with this organization, he has served on the Board of Directors, and as Lieutenant and Captain. Currently he is the Training/Privacy officer, ensuring that the organization complies with all privacy laws and meets the training needs of its members. He is employed as an Intensive Care Technician at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and is completing his degree in Nursing. "Serving in the community where I live has been an experience for me in the health field. I have met a lot of people, and learned different skills to help me continue with my career."

Medical Director: 
William Greenhut DO, MPH, FACEP

Dr. William Greenhut is the new EMS Medical Director for Nyack Community Ambulance Corps. He brings experience and leadership to this position, which he developed while working as an EMT with the New York City Fire Department and and as a Chief Resident at the Lehigh Valley Health Network Emergency Medicine Residency. Dr. Greenhut is currently an Emergency Medicine physician at Nyack Hospital and resides in New City, New York.

Dr. Greenhut earned his degree in Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008 and completed his training in emergency medicine at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 2012. He became board certified in Emergency Medicine in 2013 and currently works for Emergency Medical Associates/ EmCare.

Dr. Greenhut is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine for Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine and is the Director of the Emergency Medicine Clerkship at Nyack Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Greenhut is the EMS Medical Director for Nanuet Community Ambulance Corps and New City Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Corps Attorney: Duncan Lee  

Duncan LeeDr. Duncan Rogers Lee II is the Corps Attorney.  A Life member of NCAC, Dr. Lee joined the Corps in 1964 and rode for many years both during and after college.  A former Nyack High School teacher, several Corps members are former students.  For the past 15 years he has given free legal advice on Corps matters, handled law suit related matters, re-written the Corps' By Laws, and represented Corps members at depositions.  He and his wife, EJ live in Upper Nyack.
