Welcome to the New Nyack Community Ambulance Corps Web Site!

From Captain Paul Morer

CaptMorerI remember the first call I took with Nyack. It was around 8:30 p.m. on a Monday evening, and the call was for an activated carbon monoxide detector, with symptoms. When we got there, our elderly patient was reluctant to leave her comfortable home. I remember the kindness and caring that my partners took in explaining the dangers of staying there, and eventually we got her to agree to go to the hospital to be evaluated. I remember thinking to myself, “Wow, we can make a difference."

I am here to tell you that you, too, can make a difference. EMS means many things to many people, and each of us brings a unique talent and perspective to Nyack ambulance. I know what you’re thinking “I don’t have the time to volunteer” or “I am not sure I can learn all of that medical stuff.”

Let me just assure you, there is a place for you if you want to help.  I make the time in my schedule, while working full time, and carrying all the other responsibilities that we all carry. If you afraid of becoming an EMT, and all you want to do is be a driver, come join. If you want to help us with administrative duties only, come join. When you come across someone you know or love that calls us in their time of need, they will be glad you did.  I look forward to taking calls with you!
